Music Through English – Jolly Music for ESL-educatorsSaturday 20th May from 9:30 to 13:30 in Madrid!

English Through Music – Jolly Music

Music is one of the most powerful tools available to us, benefitting and stimulating all aspects of child development right from birth. Exposing young children to music from the earliest stages promotes:

– language learning development (ESL included)

– vocabulary and pronunciation skills

– social and emotional well being

– awareness of different cultures

– creativity

– fine and gross motor skills

– confidence

– memory skills

Music is also hugely beneficial for introducing literacy skills, not only as a means of introducing keys words, vocabulary and sentences, but also helping children to understand that the sounds and words in a language have meaning which is then associated to writing and text.

Jolly Music is a structured and progressive music teaching programme for Infant and Primary school settings, beginning with 4-7 year olds and then progressing on to the later stages of Primary education. It provides a well-planned music curriculum, giving the highest quality teaching to the children through appropriate materials even for young non-native speaking learners.

Using a multi-sensory approach to teaching, children become instant music-makers through traditional, playground rhymes and songs; they are introduced to musical elements such pulse, rhythm, pitch, tone and tempo using simple songs, rhymes and games.

Many aspects of the programme can also be used alongside the Jolly Phonics literacy programme, as there are many overlaps on instruction of simple songs and rhymes which can be related to the sounds in the simple and complex alphabetic code in English.

Jolly Music offers 36 well-structured, simple lesson plans that last approximately 30 minutes per week. These lessons can be used in order to introduce basic musical concepts with young children or as a way of reinforcing English language learning with young ESL-learners.

This fun, practical-based training course demonstrates the fundamental use of simple songs, rhymes, games and creative activities throughout the week which are suitable for teachers, parents and language schools in any educational setting, especially those wishing to teach or compliment the instruction of English as a second language.

Saturday 20th May from 9:30 to 13:30 in Calle Princesa, Madrid with Jolly Learning Teacher Trainer and Music Specialist Pedro Izuzquiza. 65 euros per person.
